Welcome to the Pelican Family

My name is Alicia, and I am privileged to be the Nominated Supervisor and Director of Pelican Preschool – Campbelltown. I joined the Pelican Preschool family in 2018, and I truly feel incredibly fortunate to have such a rewarding role.

One of the things I love most about being the Director is that I don’t simply lead from behind a desk — I get to work alongside our amazing Team Pelican every day. Being part of the children’s experiences, supporting our educators and building genuine relationships with our families is what makes my role so special.

Over the years, we have worked hard to build strong, meaningful and lasting relationships with our children and their families. We are also proud to have developed strong connections within our local community and to be a preschool where families feel welcomed, valued and supported.

With more than 25 years of experience in Early Childhood Education and Care, including over 15 years as a Centre Director, I am incredibly proud to lead a team of passionate, caring, honest and dedicated educators. Our team comes from a range of diverse backgrounds and brings with them a wealth of knowledge, experiences and perspectives. I believe this diversity makes our team stronger and enriches the experiences we are able to provide for the children in our care.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside children and families from many different backgrounds and circumstances. I take great pride in being able to support families within our community and to make a positive difference, no matter how big or small.

I am incredibly grateful to have chosen a career that allows me to help shape the early years of so many children’s lives. These early years provide such an important foundation for children’s future learning, relationships, confidence and wellbeing, and it is a privilege to be part of that journey.

I am equally grateful for the incredible educators I get to work alongside each day. Together, we share our knowledge, learn from one another, support each other and bring our individual strengths and experiences together. Most importantly, we share a genuine passion for educating, nurturing and caring for the little giants of our future.

Our Approach to Early Learning

A Child-Safe and Inclusive Environment

The safety, wellbeing and protection of every child is at the heart of everything we do. As a boutique centre, we value the close relationships we develop with children and families and take pride in creating an environment where children feel safe, respected, heard, valued and supported.

We promote a child-safe culture where children are encouraged to express their feelings, share their ideas and speak up when something does not feel right. Our educators build trusting and respectful relationships with children and remain attentive to their individual needs, wellbeing and sense of security.

We recognise that every child has the right to feel safe and included, regardless of their background, culture, abilities or individual circumstances. We foster an inclusive environment where diversity is respected and every child is encouraged to participate, develop confidence and be themselves.

Our educators maintain a strong focus on child protection, supervision, positive relationships and safe practices throughout the Centre. We work closely with families to create a consistent and supportive environment where children can learn, play and grow with confidence.

Learning Through Play and Discovery

Aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), our programs offer interest-based, child-focused and interactive learning experiences through play and exploration. We recognise that every child is unique, and we encourage their curiosity, confidence, independence and love of learning.

To support a smooth transition to formal schooling, our curriculum also incorporates an extensive School Readiness Program. This program helps children develop essential early skills in numeracy, literacy, writing, recognition and pre-reading, building the confidence and foundations they need for their next educational journey.

Being a small, boutique centre allows us to create a more personal experience for children and families. We value open communication, meaningful relationships and strong partnerships with parents and carers. Our educators take the time to understand each child’s personality, interests, strengths and individual needs.

We believe that when educators and families work together, children feel secure, confident and empowered to learn and grow.

Our whole-center water filtration system utilizes a 3-stage filtration technique to soften and remove even the finest dirt, sediments, and chemicals from the tap water.
