Pelican Preschool is committed to ensuring that places are allocated fairly and equitably, with consideration given to children and families who may have greater or more immediate access needs.
Where there are more applications for a place than vacancies available, the following priority of access guidelines will be considered:
Children who are at risk of serious abuse or neglect.
Children from families that include a person with a disability.
Children of a single parent who meets the work, training or study criteria, or children whose parents both meet the work, training or study criteria.
Children from socially isolated families who may benefit from access to an early childhood education and care environment and community connections.
Children from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, recognising the importance of inclusive early childhood education and strong connections with the community.
Children from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, recognising the importance of culturally safe, respectful and inclusive early learning environments.
Children from families experiencing financial disadvantage or on low incomes.
Secondary Priority
As a secondary priority, consideration will be given to siblings of children who are already enrolled at Pelican Preschool. This supports continuity for families and helps strengthen children’s connections within our preschool community.
All applications will be considered individually, and priority of access will be applied in accordance with relevant legislation, government requirements and the circumstances of each family.
Enrolment Process
At Pelican Preschool, we aim to make the enrolment process simple, welcoming and informative for all families.
Step 1 – Contact the Centre
We help children develop confidence, self-awareness, and a positive sense of who they are.
Step 2 – Attend a Centre Tour
During your visit, you will be provided with a guided tour by the Director or a member of the management team. This is an opportunity to explore our learning environments, ask questions and learn more about our educational program. Families will also receive an enrolment pack containing all the information required to enrol.
Step 3 – Confirm Your Interest
Following your visit, families are asked to advise the centre whether they would like to proceed with enrolment, join the waiting list, or decline the available position.
Step 4 – Apply for Child Care Subsidy (CCS)
Families seeking assistance with childcare fees should contact Services Australia to apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and ensure their details are up to date.
Step 5 – Complete Enrolment Documentation
Families are required to complete all enrolment forms and provide the necessary supporting documentation, including immunisation records, birth certificate and any relevant medical information.
Step 6 – Orientation and Start Date
The Director will work closely with the family to arrange a suitable commencement date and orientation visit to support a smooth transition into the preschool environment.
Step 7 – Payment of Enrolment Fee and First Week's Fees
Prior to commencement, families are required to pay the non-refundable enrolment fee and the first week’s fees via EFTPOS or another approved payment method.
Step 8 – Welcome to Pelican Preschool
Once all enrolment requirements have been completed, your child will begin their journey at Pelican Preschool, where we look forward to supporting their learning, development and wellbeing in a safe, nurturing and engaging environment.
Please Note: Enrolment is confirmed only once all required documentation has been received, fees have been paid, and a commencement date has been agreed upon with the Centre.
